Ben Kuzman

Qualifications:

Ben studied at the University of Wollongong (2016-2020) and was the recipient of an academic scholarship from the Business Faculty. Ben graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Laws with Distinction and Bachelor of Commerce (Management) with Distinction. Ben obtained a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 2021.

Ben specialises in building and construction matters and leads the firm’s Construction Law Division.

Ben has acted for developers, builders, head contractors, subcontractors, local councils and homeowners in a wide range of building matters. An appreciation for the industry means that Ben is able to provide practical and commercially astute advice in disputes and front-end contractual matters.

Ben’s construction disputes practice has seen him regularly appear in in NSW courts and tribunals to achieve commercial outcomes for clients engaged in litigation.

As a proud supporter of regional NSW, Ben’s front end construction practice means that he has been involved in major developments and projects which help shape local communities. In particular, Ben has provided advice and prepared contractual documents for large infrastructure projects and commercial developments.

Ben has also acted for clients in the following industries: small business, local government, agriculture, crypto-asset and app development, employment, entertainment, not-for-profit, logistics and aged care.

Professional Background:

Ben previously worked at a national law firm in Sydney, gaining experience in commercial law, particularly in the field of infrastructure and projects. During this time Ben was involved in a number of complex litigated commercial disputes.

Ben has also held a management position at a national training organisation where he was responsible for the business development and legal compliance of the organisation. This hands-on business experience ensures that Ben has a keen appreciation of the needs of his clients and is able to provide commercially astute advice.

In 2023, Ben was awarded the national Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Award in Construction and Infrastructure. This prestigious award recognises Ben’s expertise in achieving positive outcomes for clients in the building and construction sector.

Personal Details and Interests:

Ben has lived in the Illawarra his entire life and grew up in Mount Kembla. He is an active member of his local community. When Ben is not in the office, he can be found enjoying the sights (and cafes) of the Illawarra and surrounds, playing, coaching or watching football (soccer), running or reading a good book.
